The track of Pitões das Júnias is developed in the surroundings of the village with the same name, where typical landscape of
granítical areas is possible to observe. The region was subjected to a long period of human influence, of whom pasture and
fire are the main degrading factors.
As a result of these actions, the vegetation that has covered the region is mainly composed by degrading species.
But in the deep end of the valley of the river Beredo a vast bush of trees grow, dominated by the oak alvarinho – spontaneous vegetation of the region. The transition between the highest fields and the forest at the bottom of the valley, is done
through a landscape where the permanent pastures (lameiros), irrigated by a gravity system of water conduction , appear fit
for bushes and small forest spots.
